This book is a textbook (without problems and solutions) subdivided into 24 chapters. It starts on one of the most favored playgrounds of number theory – prime numbers. From there it walks across all important and fundamental topics in number theory, stating altogether 493 theorems which are either proven or at least made plausible. A few buzzwords may help in getting the right picture about the scope of the book: primes (several chapters), Farey series, irrational numbers, congruences and residues, Fermat’s theorem, representations, continued fractions, approximations, quadratic fields, partitions, elliptic curves and geometry of numbers.
